For a brand that started out as an industrial-grade awning fabric in only six colors, Sunbrella fabrics have come a long way since launching in 1961. The impact of innovation became evident in the early 1990s when Sunbrella unveiled its softer side with stunning fabrics targeted at the interior design trade and available in design showrooms across the country. Today, Sunbrella is used in a variety of innovative new products that offer creative solutions for consumers and the design community..

Sunbrella throws, manufactured by Textillery Weavers and available in retail stores and design showrooms, are soft to the touch, machine washable and tough enough to be used outdoors or endure the rigors of family life.
Our continued focus on innovations in sustainable fabrics led to the development of the Sunbrella Renaissance line of indoor/outdoor rugs.
By reclaiming and recycling our fiber and fabric waste from manufacturing and our customers’ cutting table waste, we have created Sunbrella Renaissance yarns, now available in a beautiful line of exquisite braided rugs for indoor or outdoor use.
Manufactured by Colonial Mills, Inc., and available in custom shapes, sizes and patterns, Sunbrella Renaissance Rugs were developed through the same drive for innovation that revolutionized the awning world decades earlier.
Our commitment to innovation also is apparent in the constant improvement of our existing product lines. In 2008, after rigorous research and development, the next generation of Sunbrella awning and marine fabrics was introduced with a 25% increase in water repellency and no loss of breathability. This new generation of fabrics also featured enhanced quality and strength and offered a best in class, 10-year warranty. The same year, we also increased our furniture fabric warranty to five years as a display of confidence in the durability and longevity of our fabrics.
If there is anything we’ve learned over the past 50 years, it’s that our notion of what we can do with Sunbrella fabric is limited only by the imagination.
